The Fourth of July is a day on the calendar that all (let’s cross our fingers and piggies) Americans observe and respect. We have all things Fourth ranging from BBQs and cookouts, pool parties, beach days, extravagant parades and last but definitely not least, Fireworks. Yes, this is how it was suggested to be celebrated. However, like many other holidays, this day is more than just another paid day off from work to celebrate; more than us pulling out all things red, white, blue, and hot dogs, but forgetting the true meaning.
So, throughout your celebrations this weekend and today, I hope each and every one of you reflected on what the Fourth truly is and what it means to you and us as a country (whether you like our presidential noms or not; wink, wink).
My weekend was filled with celebrations with friends between pool parties, rafting down the Delaware River, barbecues, an Independence Day 5K (you know I had to!), and one of the best parades in Bergen County and probably New Jersey: The Ridgewood Parade.
Here are some pictures, with some awesome humans, from this weekend.
Paddling miles on miles down the Delaware. It was a perfect day for a water activity! I recommend the Delaware River Family Campground for easy and cost effective rentals! Don’t forget your coolers, drinks, food, music, and them muscles for paddling.
Glen Rock 9/11 Tribute 5K. Third run of the summer down and one more to go!
Ridgewood literally is Independence Day. As always, it was a great parade.
(I just love when they pull out the massive flag.)
Someone hated their photo shoot. ::eyeroll::
Rounding it up with these girls (and baby boy in Erika’s belly!)
Relaxed fit Firecracker tank, from none other, Old Navy. On sale now for $7.00!
The only thing I sadly missed are the Ridge fireworks, which I currently hear loudly exploding into the air. I hope you all had a great weekend and day celebrating the greatest country on this earth, your lives, your liberty, and your pursuits of happiness.
Until next time!
